Distance Learning Directors Institute Announcement
Demonstration of 5.0 features and announcement of timeline was discussed by the NCLOR system admin at the NCCCS Distance Learning Directors Institute at the NCCCS System Office.
October 7th:
Initial Upgrade Notice
Distance Learning and LMS Administrators,
This is the initial notice concerning the NCLOR’s application software upgrade that is scheduled for Thursday, October 20th 2011. The system will be updated to 5.0 and will be therefore unavailable from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on October 20th. This update includes a major change in the user interface and will introduce new functionality. As mentioned at this week’s DL Admin Institute, an updated Blackboard or Moodle plugin will need to be installed on each LMS server for the NCLOR to function properly. Next week, I will start sending out the important NCLOR and LMS integration information for each college. This information will have directions for the 5.0 plugin installations and new shared secret information for plugin settings.

LMS plugin and Shared Secret Information
An email communication from the NCLOR system admin was send to every Distance Learning Administrator in the NCCCS with links to instructions on updating the LMS plugin to version 5.0. The email also included each college’s shared secret information that must be used in the configuration settings for the LMS plugin.
October 19th
NCLOR 5.0 Upgrade Postponed
Regrettably, the NCLOR staff has made the decision to delay the application upgrade of the NCLOR to the 5.0 version. This upgrade was scheduled to begin tomorrow, Oct 20th 2011 but now has been postponed. The upgrade postponement is due to a delay in a Moodle hosting vendor’s module review process.This postponement means that the NCLOR will be completely functional tomorrow with no downtime scheduled. As soon as there is a new timeline for the 5.0 update the NCLOR will notify all users.
We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may have caused.

November 16th
NCLOR 5.0 Upgrade Rescheduled for Nov 30th
An email was send to NCCCS Distance Learning and LMS Admins informing them that the new go live date for the 5.0 version of the NCLOR has been set for Wednesday, November 30th, 2011. The NCLOR application server will be unavailable the entire day of the 30th while we configure the new version. Also in this email was a reminder of the need to update the NCLOR LMS plugins.
November 29th
NCLOR Update and Unavailability Reminder Email
Reminder email was sent to all NCCCS DL and LMS admins about the NCLOR application upgrade to 5.0 on Nov 3oth. The email reminded the DL Admin to 1. Inform their faculty about the unavailability of the NCLOR., 2. Update their LMS plugin. IMPORTANT NOTE: Plugin must be updated or the LMSs will no longer connect to the NCLOR. The DL Admins were also informed about the updated NCLOR tutorials.
